The Work With Hong Kong Ballet
Hong Kong Ballet is composed of many truly beautiful dancers coming from around the world. Meeting them has been a new starting point. Their personalities, strengths and individual charismas have been rich sources of inspiration. I hope to underline the high qualities of each of them from my point of view in this short piece. It is an encounter: my research about otherness meeting with these highly skilled dancers. Working again in collaboration with Alice Rensy during rehearsals and through the whole process has been very nourishing and the continuity with previous work.
In this piece, I see figures such as Miao-miao struggling to make the world better, Jessica as a good fairy saving a homeless person, Arianne giving a tribute to Alicia Alonso, Shunsuke who enjoys dance and challenging turns, Wu Di who appears first as a person under the protection of his mother and later as a marginal person full of tenderness. Along with these evocations, one can also see tributes to masters who inspire me: Trisha Brown and Raimund Hoghe.
